Kudos to Newsweek Magazine for getting it right. In an article for the week of
August 2, 1999 in an article entitled "Affirmative Action Face-Off" (p. 58), by
Tampa Fla. staff writer, Adam Cohen, reviews the progress of Ward Connerly's
anti-affirmative-action referendum, gathering signatures in Florida. In the
article Cohen identifies Connerly as "the contraversial mixed-race
businessman who got similar masures passed in California in 1996 and in
Washington State last year." (Id., my added italics.) Dare we hope the
word last is getting around that the One-Drop Rule is out?
