(please forward to family and friends!)

Dear MAVIN readers:

In anticipation of our Winter “family issue” of MAVIN magazine, our editorial staff would like to invite your family to participate in a special photo spread that will bring readers inside the homes of multiracial and transracial adoptee families living in the greater Seattle area.

The multiple cultural influences in our families are often reflected by the plants in our gardens, the items on our bathroom counters, and the art on our studio apartment’s walls. For our “family” issue, MAVIN thought it would be fitting to document the unique interior decor of multiracial families as a celebration of one way that our families are special. Specifically, we’ll want to feature a few rooms and take a quirky family portrait, too.

We are excited about this opportunity to show the eclectic, contemporary, refined, elegant, and/or kitschy tastes of multiracial families displayed in their homes. We are, of course, looking for a diverse array of family compositions and your interpretation of “home.”

If your family is located in the greater Seattle area and is interested in being featured, please describe why you think your home’s decor would make a great fit for this feature and contact issue editor Mari Hayman no later than Monday, September 6, 2004 by 5 pm at mari@mavinfoundation.org or call 206-622-7101. We are happy to address any questions and concerns you may have about this feature or the upcoming issue, and we eagerly await your response!

Sincerely,

Mari Hayman
