America's Racial Divide

I'm happy the author looks back on America with such glowing praise. I'm joyful that after, slavery, segregation and lynchings which occured through the late 60's, you can look in the mirror and say Blacks are on equal footing. I'm happy you can feel that way, unfortunately, for the rest of us in reality, America doesn't allow us to feel as you do. Blacks should be compensated for centuries of slavery. How is it just that those of Native American descent receive a free education to the college of their choice? Are you going to argue that there land was taken from them, that the U.S. broke treaties? I feel for the Native Americans, but at least they can trace their ancestry. Unfortunately, many such as myself cannot. America hasn't even began to pay for what they've done to my ancestors. The only time there will ever be equality is when America admits she was wrong and makes restitution.
