Karl Rove
Advisor to President George W. Bush

From SourceWatch:

Bush's campaign strategists, including Karl Rove, devised a push poll against John McCain. South Carolina voters were asked "Would you be more likely or less likely to vote for John McCain for president if you knew he had fathered an illegitimate black child?". They had no interest in the actual percentages in the poll, the goal was to suggest that he had. This was particularly vicious since McCain was campaining with his adopted Bangladeshi daughter. The sight of the little dark skinned girl made the seed planted earlier grow and John McCain lost South Carolina, effectively ending his run for the presidency.

I have to say, this is extremely disgusting and repugnant.  The fact that Rove was still given a job in the Bush White House speaks volumes about the morals of both Rove and the president.

Allen Shows General Lack of Home Training

James Landrith

by James A. Landrith, Jr.
August 18, 2006

I'm a bit late in covering this, but what the hey.  Let's talk about it.  On Monday, Jessica Vanden Berg, Campaign Manager for Webb for Senate sent her newsletter email list some disturbing news.  Apparently the "Honorable" (and I use that term lightly) George Allen (R-VA), referred to a Webb for Senate volunteer videographer in a demeaning and racial manner:

"This fellow here over here with the yellow shirt, Macaca, or whatever his name is. He's with my opponent. He's following us around everywhere. And it's just great. We're going to places all over Virginia, and he's having it on film and its great to have you here and you show it to your opponent because he's never been there and probably will never come."

"…Lets give a welcome to Macaca, here. Welcome to America and the real world of Virginia."

The gentleman on the receiving end of Allen's remarks was S.R. Sidarth, born in Fairfax, Virginia of parents of Indian ancestry.  Someone, please tell me what part of Sidarth sounds like "macaca" to Allen?  I am unable to find the similarity.  I think I'm a bright guy.  Maybe I have a blind spot, but I just can't see it.

In a Washington Post story, Allen claims he was confused and meant to say mohawk, in reference to Sidharth's hairstyle, which is actually a mullet.  Umm, okay.  Mohawk and "macaca" sound nothing alike to me.  But hey, this is Allen's delusional rambling, not mine.

"Macaca" has a few meanings, none of which translate to Democrat, cameraman, mullet, mohawk, or political opponent's spy.  It can, however be used in a nasty racial manner, equating Sidharth to a genus of monkeys.

So, we have a sitting senator referring to a Virginia born and bred American of Indian descent as a monkey and welcoming him to America.  On videotape.  The mind boggles.

And Allen is surprised that people are shocked.  Taking things further down the stupid hole, his profanity spewing campaign manager (who apparently failed PR 101), believes this type of behaviour is just fine.

Senator Allen, it is time to sit down and shut up.  You have shamed yourself beyond belief.   While you are at it, please fire the idiot you call a campaign manager.  He clearly ain't up to the job.

The Multiracial Activist
From the Editor:

About three or so years ago I became one of the editors at DMOZ's Open Directory Project and I took over the Multiracial category in the Society section.

When I started on that page, there were only a few out-dated links and one page. I added several new subcategories (Celebrities, Chats and Forums, Genealogy, News and Media, Organizations, Personal Pages and Weblogs) and hundreds of links with more sub-subcategories. The Open Directory Project's listing are mirrored on hundreds, if not thousands, of pages world-wide.

One link can go a long way.

Since then, my time has grown increasingly scarce. Tonight, I attempted to login in for the first time in months - only to find my login deactivated due to inactivity. I can understand that policy and am actually a little relieved.

I could apply for reinstatement and see no reason why I would not be granted such an application. However, I do not wish to continue on this worthy project. My time is too limited with attempting to restore The Multiracial Activist to its former glory, classes, work and family. The time has come to pass the DMOZ baton. The infrastructure is there and the hardest work completed.

I humbly ask that a responsible and knowledgable reader or associate take my place on all or some of the pages in the Multiracial section at the Open Directory Project.

To apply for editing privileges, simply click on "Volunteer to edit this category" at the bottom of the category page you wish to take over editing responsibilities. If you choose the Multiracial root category, you will be able to edit all the subcategories as well. If you prefer only to edit a particular section, simply navigate to that page and the click on "Volunteer to edit this category."

Thank you - and I hope one or several readers have the time and inclination to pick up where I am leaving off.

The Multiracial Activist
From the Editor:

As you can see, we are back online - sort of.  The first week of July, The Multiracial Activist and The Abolitionist Examiner suffered a major blow when the server housing multiracial.com went kaput.

I have a good deal of work to do to get everything back online and functioning as it did before the crash.  New issues of The Multiracial Activist and The Abolitionist Examiner are being planned for October.  If you are interested in making a submission, please visit this link.

Thank you for your patience and support during this trying time.
