I have been reading this forum for some time now, and I would like to pass on an idea that I have been using over the years. When ever I fill out any personal data forms, I always check the “other” block when giving my ethnic back ground. In the fill in the blank line next to it, I write “Scotish, or Human.” As my child (mixed) grows up, I will ask if he wishes to do close to the same thing check off all the blocks that apply to him. If anyone says he can’t do that he should leave. If its bugging them that much, then he shouldn’t be doing buisness with them in the first place. My Andrew will be educated in all the backgrounds he has inherited. From bagpipes to the voice of his African past. He will know, and I will tell him to be proud.
