The Population of Two or More Races in California

Executive Summary
On the 2000 Census, people were allowed for the first time on the U.S. decennial survey to identify with more than one race. This report examines the “two or more races” population in California using census data from both the race and Latino origin questions, and summarizing age and regional distributions within the state. According to 2000 Census data, 4.7 percent of the total population in California are of two or more races, and this statistic is largest for children under age 5, at 8.4 percent.
