August 2, 1999 in an article entitled "Affirmative Action Face-Off" (p. 58), by
Tampa Fla. staff writer, Adam Cohen, reviews the progress of Ward Connerly's
anti-affirmative-action referendum, gathering signatures in Florida. In the
article Cohen identifies Connerly as "the contraversial mixed-race
businessman<\/em> who got similar masures passed in California in 1996 and in
Washington State last year." (Id.<\/em>, my added italics.) Dare we hope the
