Subject: Chicago Hope attacks racially mixed people<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recent episode “From Here to Maternity” (4\/14\/99) of “Chicago Hope” attacks racially mixed people by promoting the myth that multiracial babies born to “white” women by “black” men are totally “black” with no visible contribution from the “white” parent. The truth is that even dark “mulatto” babies look more white than black when they are first born. They are ALWAYS lighter than the “black” parent. “Chicago Hope” used a “black” baby to play a mixed-race baby. There is a big difference. There was also a presumption that a baby that looks totally “white” must be “pure.” The “white” twin’s color would not be (as “Chicago Hope” assumed) proof of paternity or racial “purity.” That why so many people are so foolish to believe that black, mulatto, or “tarbrushed” mixed-white parent and white (or negro blood free) parent can produce “black” child because of the crap promoted in T.V. shows such as Highlander, All My Children, Law & Order, Jeffersons and movies such as Carbon Copy and Roots. It also promotes the myth that mulattoes and mixed-whites only get racism from whites and get along perfectly with blacks. There are plenty mulattoes and mixed-whites who are uncomfortable with blacks and wouldn’t be caught dead in “black” ghetto, but you’d never know that from the movies and t.v. shows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
