Hiding Things From The People Is Un-American<\/p>\n

ALEXANDRIA, V.A. — The Multiracial Activist participated in an important joint comment letter regarding preservation of the Freedom of Information Act. On May 19, more than forty privacy, human rights and civil liberties organizations from all parts of the political spectrum participated in a joint letter to the Department of Homeland Security including the ACLU, Center for Financial Privacy and Human Rights, Center for National Security Studies, National Asian Pacific American Legal Consortium, and the NAACP.<\/p>\n

Highlighting the importance of the FOIA, previously The Multiracial Activist participated in a joint lawsuit (with several of the 41 groups below) against the Department of Justice with regard to its illegal refusal to grant Freedom of Information Act requests on long-term detainees who have been held without charge in violation of U.S. law and Constitutional restraints.<\/p>\n
