Hi Everyone,<\/p>\n

My name is Shelli Branscomb, I am an African-American, Southern California native and I am currently working on my MA Thesis through the University of Amsterdam (the Netherlands). My project is about how biracial black\/white women and men formulate their black identifications, using gender as a comparison. I have selected a project such as this because identity and identifications are fluid, multifaceted and personal, and I want to know how both white identity aspect, as well as individual life experiences comes into play for each person. I also want to know what the different issues may be with forming black identifications based on gender (for example, literature (such as the Color Complex-(1992)Kathy Russell et.al, has argued that hair may be a greater issue for black women than men, or that a dark man\/light woman acceptance issue exists), and how it can affect ones identity and identifications.<\/p>\n

The people that I am looking for should be between the ages of 20-30, with one black parent, and one white parent, currently living in California, and willing to participate in an in-depth confidential interview. The interviews have to be volunteer, however, I am willing to do the footwork to get to interested people (including buying a tea or coffee :) ).<\/p>\n
