He was completely mystified as to why the Chronicle editorial staff tacked the following onto the title of his commentary: &#8220;The &#8216;other&#8217; side explains the need for the new multiracial category&#8221; The most likely reason is that someone on staff was looking at old editorials at IV and not actually paying  attention to Charles&#8217; current work, so as a result they got the gist of the commentary wrong.
