Instead, a U.S. House panel took a leap backward by trying to strip Indians of the right to challenge the government&#8217;s handling of their trust accounts.  <\/p>\n<p>Last week, the subcommittee that writes the U.S. Interior Department&#8217;s budget voted to let the Interior secretary unilaterally decide any claim arising from the department&#8217;s Indian trust account management. The plan would leave Indians with almost no right to review the settlements or challenge the decisions in court.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>So basically, the same mismanaging Department of Interior gets to determine its own amount of mismanagment.  Such a deal!  Can I expect to get the same treatment if the IRS sues me?  How about we start honoring our treaties and make good on our obligations.
