His parents said they believed the 17-year-old had been lynched, and a firestorm exploded. <\/p>\n<p>The evidence for lynching? The parents said they didn&#8217;t recognize the belt as one of their son&#8217;s; they thought they had heard dogs barking around the house before the incident; and Raynard was an honor student who seemed happy. Most importantly, he was dating or was friends with a couple of white girls, about which some locals had allegedly complained.
