We are required\u00a0to\u00a0take three classes that focus specifically on multicultural issues, and I am taking my third.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The\u00a0instructor of this multicultural issues class presented a case study\u00a0to\u00a0our class, in writing, and described\u00a0the\u00a0child who was\u00a0the\u00a0object of\u00a0the\u00a0case as &#8220;Biracial (Mulatto).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;For\u00a0the\u00a0last 20 years I have had\u00a0the\u00a0impression that\u00a0the\u00a0term &#8220;Mulatto&#8221; was derogatory, based on its etymology, and also its reception by those\u00a0to\u00a0whom it refers.\u00a0The\u00a0instructor now informs me that it is an acceptable term. I still do not feel comfortable using it, concerned that I may offend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Is\u00a0there a right answer\u00a0to\u00a0this dilemma?
