I'm an independent filmmaker currently contributing to a documentary series on race in America that will air on PBS in the fall of 2002. Entitled, "Matters of Race, the series is currently featured in the May 2001 issue of "The Independent" film and video monthly. You can get it off newsstands, or hyperlink:

The segment I'm producing will be a part of Program four, the last in this series of one hour programs. It focuses on youth culture and the values of the next generation by addressing changing ideas about identity and race in America. Our objective is to explore these issues through the Census, with particular interest in the many facets of the debate surrounding the 2000 questionnaire and results.

In so doing, we are actively seeking individuals who identified themselves or their children as more than one race (any combination) on the 2000 US Census. We are also interested in those who abstained from answering the question regarding race, leaving it blank.

We would greatly appreciate if you could post a request for such people on your site and/or directly to your membership by forwarding this letter. Have them reply to the following e-mail address:

Phil@ROJAproductions.com

Interested individuals should respond by telling us what combination they marked on the Census and their contact information (electronic or otherwise) so I can follow-up with them. I appreciate your cooperation in this matter and look forward to hearing from you and your constituency.

Regards,
