I am a Canadian researcher and am presently doing my PhD thesis on the practice of racial passing, particularly black to white. I am seeking families who have members who “passed” as white, either in the past or presently. I am particularly interested in families who have crossed over the American/Canadian border. I realize that a “secret” must be kept in order to “pass” successfully, however, it is my experience that this practice was particularly prevalent in the mid 20th century and therefore those who actively “passed” may now be deceased. I would be interested in discussing family experiences with the descendents of such individuals.
