Transcending ‘race consciousness’: The ‘other’ side explains the need for the new multiracial category

Charles called me or I called him (can’t remember which) right after this one was published. He was completely mystified as to why the Chronicle editorial staff tacked the following onto the title of his commentary: “The ‘other’ side explains the need for the new multiracial category” The most likely reason is that someone on staff was looking at old editorials at IV and not actually paying attention to Charles’ current work, so as a result they got the gist of the commentary wrong. This one was also published in the Augusta Chronicle.
