Affirmative Action (special time)
Later this month, the U.S. Supreme Court is expected to deliver one of its most important rulings in years and the decision could have a profound effect on race relations for generations to come. At stake in the debate is the future of affirmative action programs around the nation. In a NBC special, “Tom Brokaw Reports: A Question of Fairness,” Tom Brokaw looks at the issue of affirmative action through the upcoming Supreme Court case involving the University of Michigan. The hour-long report centers on the fundamental issue of fairness and examines how we as a nation attempt to remedy the historic mistreatment of deserving African-Americans, without punishing deserving white Americans today.
