The History of the Mixed Race Holocaust Victims

6 million out of 11 million victims of the Holocaust were Jews. The remaining victims were people of various backgrounds, the disabled, Polish Christians and Catholics, Jehovah Witnesses, Rom Gypsies, Clergymen, Non-Nazi/non-conformist whites, Homosexuals, Interracial Couples and their Mixed Offspring1.

The Mixed Race children were the descendants of the African colonized soldiers of the French Army from World War I and German Women. These children were called “Rhineland Bastards” named after the land-(the Rhineland) on both sides of the Rhine River, a buffer zone between Germany, France, Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands. These soldiers, declared Neger by the Germans were stationed in the Rhineland and intermarried with the German women which created the Mulatto children dubbed Rhineland Bastards or Rhineland Mischlingers (blood mixing with "alien races).”2 Many believed that these children were from forciable rape and could not have resulted from intermarriage. Hitler in his Mein Kempf wrote that the Afro-German children were an ‘insult to Germany’ and considered the German mothers to have been ‘prostitutes and whores’.3

"The mulatto children came about through rape or the white mother was a whore," Hitler wrote. "In both cases, there is not the slightest moral duty regarding these offspring of a foreign race."4

Hitler vowed to rid Germany of the Mulatto children who he felt threatened the purity of the Aryan race.

The Mulatto children at birth were registered with the government so that they could be carefully watched so that the racial purity laws of the Nazi government, also known as the Nuremberg Laws would be upheld. The Nuremberg Laws stated that a German citizen was one who was of pure German heritage, meaning both parents were of German/white ancestry.

So, in 1935, “a group named "Commission Number 3" was created to resolve the "problem" of the "Rhineland Bastards." Organized under Dr. Eugene Fischer of the Kaiser Wilhelm Institute of Anthropology, Human Heredity, and Eugenics, it was decided that the children would be sterilized under the 1933 Law for the Prevention of Offspring with Hereditary Defects5.

In 1937, 400 to 800 Mulatto children were taken from their homes and sterilized. These children were returned to their parents after sterilization, but were later shipped to concentration camps, in which none were reported as having survived the Holocaust.

  1. If “race” is really a social construct, we would do well to remember that the children of Jewish-Christian marriages were also considered “mixed race.” The Nazis were hoping to eventually exterminate all Jewish/Christian Germans and other Europeans when they won the war.
However, most German Jewish/Christian “Mischlinge” survived the war (unlike most Jews, who did not survive) precisely because the Nazi regime was afraid of offending their “Aryan” relatives. Even a dictatorship can be sensitive to public opinion. This is important because there are many supposed anti-racists who will tell you that “racial” intermarriage doesn’t make things better. If intermarriage could protect Jewish spouses and part-Jewish offspring from the most murderous regime the world has ever known, imagine what it could do for the United States.

  2. The presence of Senegalese soldiers in the Rhine was referred to as the “Schwarze Schmah”–the Black Shame–at it was part of the perceived humiliation of defeat and occupation for the Germans. Much of the propaganda focused on sexual violence–rape, etc. Coins produced to commemorate the Scharze Schmah show women tied up to large (presumably African) phalluses.

  3. Please excuse my intrusion. Acorn Publishing has just published (Actually it was in August, but now it is available nearly everywhere) my book I did with Mitch Garwolinski.
Mitch Garwolinski was a boy of seven, living in Poland, when World War ll broke out in September of 1939. His family was there, because his father, a US citizen, was working for the OSS (now the CIA). This is an amazing story of degradation, hope, and surviving under the most hideous conditions imaginable. Mitch was left for dead on three different occasions.

The turmoil of the war separated Mitch from his family for much of the next six years. During this time, he was captured and escaped from several labor and experimental camps, including Treblinka. With encouragement from others, Mitch wrote a journal of his war-time memories, which served as the basis of Silent Screams of a Survivor. He also devotes time to sharing his experiences with school and community groups.

The book can be found at http://www.amazon.com

    thanks
