Poetry: Classmate’s Mother

Classmate’s Mother

by Kent Malcom

As a child my mother was called “White Trash”
by a classmate’s mother.
Meaning she considered my mother trash – but certainly not White.

How ironic someone could talk about the color of skin
when they are devoid of soul.
