John Stossel’s special tonight was on the failure that is The War on Drugs. This is the issue that clearly separates the libertarians from the Daddy Conservatives. Those who think that libertarians and conservatives are the same animal just don’t think. Nothing will cause a rift between conservatives and libertarians quicker than issues of personal freedom and individual rights.
Liberals want to control our pocketbooks and keep us dependent on the State. In short they want to Mommy us to death. Conservatives want to keep us under their social control, subject to their own strict moral codes, which are usually based on some form of perverse theocratic mandate, and in a slightly lesser manner, control our pocketbooks. In short they want to Daddy us to death. I don’t need another Mommy and Daddy. I want my freedom and neither the Mommy Party nor the Daddy Party has the right to keep it from me. I’m a libertarian and I don’t care what you do, only that it is your choice and that you respect the rights of others to do as they see fit. Mommy Liberal and Daddy Conservative should mind their own fucking business.
